How do you know if someone if deaf?

Sometimes it can be hard to tell if someone is deaf... 

If you happen to see the use of hand shapes, signs or someone not bothered by other notice around they are most like deaf or hard of hearing. 

A great way to start a conversation is to simple say hello...
